POSTPONED DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER

Drop in on to make a holiday craft that can be
used as a decoration, given as a present, or kept for yourself.
This activity is suitable for adults and children over 12. We will have lots of holiday books to keep younger children busy while you’re crafting, and treats for everyone.

TREE SCAVENGER HUNT -begins September 21, ends October 20 -PRIZES!

The library is partnering with the Town’s Arbor Committee to offer another fun, self-guided program.
Between Wednesday, September 21 and Friday, October 20, we challenge you to find special trees in Essex. This fun family program will get you outside hiking and observing the beautiful trees all around you. Can you find the local tree with the biggest circumference? Can you find a tree that looks like it has a face? These are two of the categories you will be looking for.

A scavenger hunt card for the program will be available at the library, and on our Website beginning September 21.
Scavenger hunt cards may be picked up at the library, or downloaded by clicking here.
Turn in your entry by Friday, October 20 and then join us on Saturday, October 21 for a tree planting and prize award ceremony.

We wish to thank the Champlain Peony Farm for generously providing prizes for this activity and the Town’s Arbor Committee for partnering with us on this activity. |

Children’s Room Open By Reservation

We know it is hard on caregivers, especially in winter, to find fun things to occupy children. We have made the decision to open the
Children’s area of the library
by reservation only.
FOR THE CONSIDERATION OF OUR STAFF AND PATRONS, USE OF THE CHILDREN’S AREA REQUIRES THEN FOLLOWING:

Caregivers must call the library to request a time slot to visit the Children’s Room. The room will be available for reservation between 11:30AM and 3:30PM Wednesday – Saturday.

Reservations may be made by calling the library at 518-963-8079 during open hours only. Please do not leave reservation requests on the answering machine.

Those who have ‘Covid safe pods’ may reserve together, but we reserve the right to limit the number of people visiting at one time. All visitors must be on the reserve list.

Caregivers are requested to wipe down toys used by young children before leaving. Wipes will be provided.

Visitors may reserve the room for one hour. If no reservations follow yours, visit time may be extended.

Children over the age of two must remain masked in the downstairs area of the library. If your younger child will tolerate a mask, we ask that you also mask them in the downstairs area.

To insure the librarian’s safety, please stand back from the desk while checking out materials, and please do not linger in the downstairs area with young children, especially those who are unmasked.
